5 Beauty Must-Haves (Drugstore Edition)

You don’t have to spend tons of money to look amazing. While sometimes splurging at expensive department stores can make you feel like a million bucks, its not necessary.  When it comes to beauty and fashion, basic essentials can be your best friend. Being groomed and having healthy hair, skin, and nails can take you along way. Here’s our list of 5 Beauty Must-Haves (Drugstore Edition.)

Micellar Water: This stuff is incredible. I was reluctant to buy it at first because honestly it just doesn’t look that interesting, it looks like a bottle of water. But after researching about what tap water can do to your skin (Read More Here) I had to try this stuff out and I’m sure glad I did. Micellar water rids your skin of make-up, dirt, and oil without drying your skin and it doesn’t need to be rinsed off.  You can find it at your nearest drug store for under $10, we recommend Garnier.

A Good BB Cream: BB Cream is similar to foundation but more like a tinted moisturizer. If you’re looking for something to keep your skin even and glowing without the heavy makeup look, you need to try BB Cream. I recommend Physicians Formula Argan Wear BB Cream: Not only is the packaging amazing on this BB Cream. (It looks like a luxury Moroccan Palace) but it gives more coverage than you would expect from a BB Cream and its super smooth and creamy. It practically makes your pores disappear and its not heavy or oily. If you want more of a matte finish with this product, just dust a little translucent powder on top and your good to go! The only downside about this product is that it doesn’t come in a variety of shades; only light and light/medium. You can find this product for under $10 at Target or CVS.

Witch Hazel: A classic skincare toner. Witch Hazel has been the people’s favorite for decades which is why we deem it a Must-Have. Because of its antibacterial properties, it is especially useful for those with acne-prone skin. The benefits of Witch Hazel include but are not limited to: reducing inflammation, clearing and preventing acne, prevent oily skin, and heal insect bites. Any brand of Witch Hazel works fine as they all pretty much the same ingredients.

Exfoliation Brush or Sponge: Exfoliation is the key to beautiful radiant skin and while there are many types of exfoliators on the market ranging from serums to scrubs, an exfoliation brush or sponge works for everyone. Because its not a topical product, you don’t have to worry about your skin reacting or breaking out from the ingredients. The problem with exfoliating scrubs that have beads in them is that it actually can cause more damage to your skin. Many times, those beads are made of plastic and they can leave tiny scratches on the surface of your skin, no bueno. They are also not biodegradable so once you rinse them down the drain, the plastic beads pollute the ocean! You can find great exfoliation brushes at your local drugstore or Target ranging from $4-$20. If you want to get really fancy, Target offers mechanical exfoliation brushes for around $120, but it’s not necessary.

Argan Oil for Hair: Argan oil is amazing for maintaining healthy locks. It leaves your hair feeling smooth and silky without making it oily. There are many great Shampoos and Conditioners that contain argan oil in them at your local drugstore, but the best way to use it is to purchase the oil treatment and apply it to wet, clean hair. You can find small bottles of this oil for less than $2. Look for HASK Argan Oil Repairing Shine Oil.
