Self-Care is nothing new, the ancient Greeks and Egyptians were experts when it came to self care. From Cleopatra’s infamous milk baths to the Greeks olive oil infused skin, self care has been prominent in our lives for ages, and for good reason…Self care is important. It is important because it helps us to preserve ourselves mentally and physically which in turn, allows us to perform at a higher level.

Self care is predominantly the same as its always been: eat healthy, get exercise, pamper yourself, and relax. While some techniques have changed, many classic health and beauty tips have remained the same. Here are a few self-care tips for the modern girl:

De-clutter: Our environment directly affects how we feel. When you de-clutter your surroundings, your mind will immediately feel de-cluttered too!

Meditate: There are many benefits meditation can bring to the mind, body, and soul including helping to reduce stress, increase happiness, and reduce aging. If you’re new to meditation, learn how to properly meditate by watching videos on YouTube or reading a book on meditation.

Cut out meat: While there are many health benefits to being vegan, it can be difficult to do for some. One way to increase your energy and feel healthier is to cut out meat from some of your meals. You WILL feel the difference!

Write down your goals: Writing down your goals is an effective way of increasing your odds to reaching your goals. Start by figuring out your goals, writing them down specifically, and then putting deadlines along with your written goals.

Turn your bath into a self-care bath: Bathing can help to relieve muscle pain, aid in stress, and add nourishment to your skin. Run yourself a warm bath and use candles as your lighting. Add oils, herbs, and bubbles to your bath for extra relaxation and benefits.

Read a book: It’s very easy to get wrapped up in our phones, computers, and television. Take a break from technology and read a good book before bed to help you relax and sleep better.
