Drake Has More Top 10 Hits Than Any Other Hip Hop Artist

According to Forbes In addition to ruling the Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week with his latest smash “God’s Plan,” Drake takes over a second position inside the top 10 on the all-genre tally as a featured guest on BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive.”

The song has become the first chart appearance for the lead artist who everyone thinks doesn’t deserve the co-sign, and it’s important to Drake as well, even though it is far from his first big hit.

“Look Alive” is Drake’s twenty-third top 10 hit on the all-encompassing important tally, which further secures his position as the hip-hop artist with the most appearances inside the uppermost region. He is now two top 10s ahead of Jay-Z, who used to hold the title.

According to Billboard, Drake first blew past Beyoncé’s husband earlier this year when he released his short EP (if it can even be called that) Scary Hours, which only contained two songs. Both of those tracks—“God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity”—debuted inside the top 10, giving him his twenty-first and twenty-second titles to break into the area. It’s only been a few weeks, but this is Drake we’re talking about, so it’s not too surprising that he’s already managed to collect another. It will likely only be another few weeks (or possibly months) before he sends another tune with his name attached to it into the tier.

Jay-Z holds in second place with 21 top 10 hits, and it’s likely that his count will also rise…though probably not fast enough to catch up with Drake, who is not only one of the most successful artists of all-time but one of the most prolific as well.

Drake is now tied with superstars like The Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston and Paul McCartney (when taking into account his solo career only) with 23 top 10s, and he’s sure to pass them all soon. He still has a way to go before he matches the artist with the most top 10s ever, Madonna, who is still beating Drake by 15 smashes.

Impressively, the Canadian hip-hop star needed less than a decade to collect his 23 top 10 smashes, which is a testament to how much music he’s released and how greatly he’s been welcomed. He first made it into the region in 2009 with his proper debut single “Best I Ever Had,” which peaked in the runner-up slot. The musician leads the way on 15 of his 23 top 10-charters and serves as a featured guest on tracks fronted by other names for the remainder. Four of his top 10 singles have made it to No. 1, including two of his own.
